Among the many changes people will see with the start of the new school year is Collins Field at the high school. The field was recrowned to eradicate pooling when it rains. In addition, a paved patio area was installed by the concession stand.
If you noticed big, yellow buses out on the roads and kids with backpacks slung over their shoulders you guessed it – Wednesday, Sept. 1 marked the first official day of school for students in the Stoughton Area School District.

In February, Stoughton school district residents approved nearly $16 million worth of operational and maintenance referendums allowing the district to continue to operate at its current level. And while that money will help keep the district afloat for four more years, organizers of a potluck dinner and discussion held last Wednesday at Stoughton High School said those funds are a temporary fix for a long-term problem.
